Well! I feel an obligation to post something here - seeing as how it’s
been so long since I’ve made a personal blog post - but there’s no real
earth-shattering news to share! Just more of the same.
Lithus has played some great shows around Kansas - in Topeka, KC, here
in Manhattan at Aggiefest, and most recently down in Wichita (now THAT
was a fun gig!). Right now we’re working on writing some new songs - a
couple we’re putting the final touches on, and a few more that we’re
hoping to find that flash of inspiration for. Hotel Gyspies made their
public performance debut at Aggiefest, and we’ve been hard at work
learning and writing new songs since then. We’re always thinking of
ideas for new songs and covers faster than we can learn them!
Lithus recently uploaded all of our studio tracks to soundcloud, so you
can check those out at www.soundcloud.com/lithusband.
I’m hoping to get photoshoots scheduled for both bands - and maybe some
websites designed here in the near future.
Chantelle-the-solo-singer would like to get some recording of her own
done, but we’ll see! I’d have to either 1) really polish up my original
repertoire, 2) find an accompanist and/or 3) brush up my classical
chops!
It’s always frustrating trying to create art that you feel is truly
original and valuable in a world of reality TV 15-minute stars and child
“prodigies” - where fame is more like a freak show than an actual ladder
of success you can climb. BUT when you have those moments (like Justin
and I have while writing songs for HG) and epiphanies where suddenly it
all clicks, all of the headaches (and heartaches!) become
inconsequential.
Now! To keep up with this blog more regularly. What should I blog about?
What would you like to hear? Song lyric snippets, as we’re writing them?
Candid photography? Q&A “ask the band (members)” posts? Or just…
random things? (That’s most likely.)
