A page of Leonard Bernstein’s score of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Resurrection, which may be viewed in its entirety via the New York Philharmonic Digital Archives, features the words “Big Apple,” below Mahler’s “Grosse Appel.” 
This September, Music Director Alan Gilbert leads the Orchestra in “A Concert for New York,” a free performance of Mahler’s Second Symphony on the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, as well as repeat performances on September 22, 24, and 27.
